I was originally interested in a career in massage therapy because I wanted my work to affect positive change in people’s lives. I have personally experienced the powerful effects of massage to help reduce pain, increase speed of recovery and encourage deep relaxation. Our bodies have a fantastic capacity to heal themselves, yet alongside therapies such as massage the process can be expedited to help us get back to the quality of life we deserve.
I have always had a passion for movement, I grew up playing many sports and I love to explore the potential our bodies have to interact with the world around us. I graduated from Vancouver College of Massage Therapy where I became fascinated with the intricacies of human anatomy and learning about all the cogs in the machine that make that movement possible.
You can expect my treatments to have a heavy emphasis on rhythmic and relaxing strokes interspersed with deeper, specific techniques to work towards your personal goals. I use a combination of Myofascial release, Trigger point therapy, deep tissue Swedish, Stretching and Joint mobilizations. I am especially interested in treating Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) pain or dysfunction and injury rehab.
Whether you are coming to me for rebab or relaxation, I am excited to be a part of your journey to well-being.
Outside of the clinic you can find me on the tennis courts, taking my bike on long tours and travelling the world to experience new cultures.

Ilan (Lani) Dinur, RMT
Ilan (mostly known as Lani) Dinur, has been in private practice since 1995 and has worked in both Vancouver and Surrey throughout the past 22 years. Over this time he has taken many enrichment courses ranging from Deep Systemic Massage to Cranial Sacral Therapy along with subtle Myofascial Release. His practice and style of treatment has changed over the years and usually includes components of energetic treatments to add another dimension to the more physical aspects of the body ordinarily addressed with massage therapy.
His clients range form high performance athletes, chronic pain sufferers, people with migraines and concussions, seniors with aging-related issues and kids with ADHD and anxiety.
Although Lani relies heavily on his intuition and knowledge to select a specific approach and techniques for the treatment, he is aware that the body knows what’s best for itself and therefore he encourages patients to specify what kind of treatment they are interested in.
Since his diagnosis with diabetes 12 years ago he has developed a special interest in nutrition and natural remedies to improve health.

I graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2002, and have been practicing in Vancouver since then. I really enjoy my job of working with people to help them achieve their health goals. An important part of my approach is to identify why pain or dysfunction is happening in the body. This is done through physical assessment as well as asking a lot of questions. Understanding how a person uses their body on a daily basis is often the key to identifying why pain is occurring or why it persists.
Hands-on treatment and self-care methods are selected to achieve the best results tailored to each individual. Treatments include smooth and comfortable Swedish strokes as well as fascial techniques, and any appropriate variety of stretching, joint mobilizations, trigger point release and muscle energy techniques. The intensity of the treatment is directed by the patient. Conditions that I have experience treating include headaches, neck and back pain, whiplash injuries, shoulder injuries, numbness and tingling in the hands, plantar fasciitis, post-surgery, and pregnancy.

I am grateful to say that I have been at Urban Healing since my beginnings as an RMT in 2016.
My massage therapy treatments are currently a blend of Swedish massage and CranioSacral Therapy (CST), with occasional Myofascial release and stretching. This approach is helpful in restoring a sense of balance and calm to the nervous system, while relieving pain and improving ease of movement. Adding CranioSacral therapy to the treatment feels like a nurturing and gentle pause. One that encourages your body’s natural ability to heal.
CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle hands on modality that provides deep relaxation while accessing restrictions in the CranioSacral system. For more information about CranioSacral Therapy, please click on link bellow.

You might enjoy my treatments if you are seeking relief from either physical, mental or emotional tension through deep relaxation, slowing down and connecting/reconnecting to your body.
Please note that my online schedule is available only 1 month from today’s date.
I will be wearing a mask, please bring and wear one if you are more comfortable that way.
Feel free to email me with any questions.

Massage Therapy has taught me an endless amount. How to be still, how to listen to the body, and how to help create change to decrease pain and restore function. Not to mention how incredibly amazing we are as humans.
During treatment, I try to let me hands feel what the tissues need. My most used modalities are Myofascial release, Swedish and stretching. Regardless of the technique, I try to be as present and mindful as possible during the entire process. When it comes to pressure, my treatments are on the firmer side, while honoring the body and its limits.
Treating the whole person is very important to me. What I mean by this, is most people experience pain in areas that are not the cause of the pain. Pain is a big liar! Because of this, I treat not only the symptom, but try to find the cause of the pain or muscle imbalance. Communicating this to you as the client helps in the overall process. I feel if you know what is going on, you are more active in your own health care.
With that, goes breaking down the power dynamic between the Therapist and the Client. I fully welcome any feedback, positive or negative, to make your experience and treatment tailored to your specific needs. The time is for you. If you need that pillow adjusted, some heat on your back, or a change in pressure, all you need is to ask.
Homecare, from my viewpoint, is more about being mindful of your body and how it moves. I give stretches from yoga poses, breathing techniques, or the simple act of being aware of how a certain body part is being held throughout the day. Strengthening the mind and body connection can be much more fruitful than giving an exercise to build one muscle. If we aren’t aware of how we are moving, exercise can just be a set of motions without intention.
My aim is to make the treatment room a safer space. I’m part of the queer and trans community, fat/body positive, and try my best to incorporate anti-oppression into my practice.

Typical feedback I receive after a session:
-
I feel taller
-
Even though I have a good stretch routine, there’s something about being stretched out by someone else
-
I never stretch so - that felt amazing
-
My headache has subsided
-
That felt similar to a Thai massage only I got to pay for it with my benefits*
-
You intuitively knew where to go & what to do
-
Even though it was dynamic and active, I still felt/feel so relaxed.
My style:
I like to stretch, pull, push, bend, manipulative & traction the body in efforts to restore mobility, ease of motion and quality of life. Modalities include myofascial release, joint mobilization, traditional Swedish and PNF stretching.
I have a particular affinity for treating the jaw, arms/hands and head.
I do not offer deep tissue massage.
